N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) is a stable form of the non-essential amino acid L-Cysteine.  It is a sulfur-containing amino acid that acts as a stabilizer for the formation of protein structures, and is also necessary for the formation of glutathione.  Glutathione exerts a variety of protective effects, including detoxification and intracellular defense against oxidative stress. Substances known to reduce glutathione status are acetaminophen and alcohol. Molybdenum and Selenium are essential trace minerals that facilitate the production of several important enzymes.

Suggested Use:

As a dietary supplement, take 1 Vcap 2 times a day.

Q. What Is NAC?
A.NAC stands for N-acetyl-cysteine. This sulfur-based amino acid N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC) is a specially modified form of the dietary amino acid cysteine. When taken orally, NAC helps make glutathione, one of the body's most important antioxidant enzymes. NAC has been shown to support lung and bronchial health.NAC can also be used as an adjunct in helping to reduce homocysteine levels, which is important for heart health.

Q.I'm allergic to sulfa drugs, can I still take NAC?
A.Sulfa drugs and the nutrient sulfur are not the same. Sulfa drugs are used to treat bacterial infections. On the other hand, sulfur is a natural nutrient found in every living cell and is part of the molecules that form amino acids. Sulfur is also found in many foods including egg yolks, broccoli, onions, and garlic.

Q.What is a common dose of NAC?
A.Common supplemental intake ranges from 600 milligrams once to three times daily.

Q.How does it work?
A. N-acetyl cysteine treats acetaminophen (Tylenol) poisoning by binding the poisonous forms of acetaminophen that are formed in the liver. It is also an antioxidant, so it may play a role in preventing cancer.
